MEET OUR HORSES...

At Up A Creek Farm, we are always seeking out new talent and horses quickly find their niche in our program. Some stay on long term as lesson horses, broodmares, or competition horses. Others are put into training and then offered for sale once they have achieved more miles. We would like to introduce you to the valued members of our team, past and present!

COMPETITION HORSES

London Dry Gin "Ollie"

2013 15.3h Chestnut TB Gelding

Ollie is by English Channel out of a Medaglia D'Oro mare, Greenapple Martini. Bred by Calumet Farm, he was put into race training but never made a start. He joined our team Spring of 2016 and spent his three-year-old year focusing on dressage. He became quite competent and showed great talent as a sporthorse. Unfortunately, he got put on the back burner when the new farm was purchased in 2017. With things a little more settled, he is getting back to work and we have great goals for him this year! Look for this one on the dressage and eventing scene!

Flying Oaks Zodiac "Z"

2010 15.1h Grey Marchador Gelding

Zodiac is a Mangalarga Marchador gelding bred by Flying Oaks Ranch. Z is with us on consignment. He has an extensive training background and we hope to use him as a breed ambassador until sold. Look for him in the dressage ring! Find out more on the SALES page.

Valesia "Stella"

2015 16.3h Grey TB Mare

Stella is the newest member to our herd, joining us in June 2019, and her quiet personality quickly earned her a spot in our competition lineup. She is a French bred Thoroughbred by Fuisse out of an El Prado mare. After a lackluster career on the track with one start, she was retired from racing. Stella is still very early in her training but shows great promise as an Eventer. We also hope that she will join our broodmare string in the future!

LESSON HORSES

Possetively "Lilly"

2007 16.2h Grey TB Mare

Lilly is a lovely mare by Posse out of Watusi Miss. She had six lackluster starts on the track and was retired from racing. Lilly then pursued a career in dressage and eventing in which she was very successful until an injury sidelined her upper level future. We have found her to be a quiet and uncomplicated ride. Although she is quiet enough for beginners, she really shines as a nice step-up horse for our intermediate riders.

Picasso "P"

2011 14.2h Chestnut Paint Gelding

P is a grade paint gelding that we purchased in 2016 and is the foundation of our lesson program. He is perfect for beginners with his laid back and humorous personality. He is an uncomplicated ride but will challenge a rider just enough to make them work. We joke that his favorite speed is "whoa"!

BROODMARES

Longtime Friend "Twiggy"

2012 16.2h Bay TB Mare

Twiggy is an off-track Thoroughbred by Artie Schiller who won just shy of $20,000 in nine starts. She joined our herd in July of 2018 from New Vocations in Ohio. Just one month after her arrival, Twiggy attended the ISR/OLD NA inspections at Wally Woo Farm and was a perfect girl! She scored a 100.5 and was entered into the Main Mare Book. We hope to prep her for the Mare Performance Test with a goal of getting her upgraded to the Premium Mare Book.

Possetively "Lilly"

2007 16.2h Grey TB Mare

In addition to being part of our lesson program, Lilly has also joined our broodmare string and is expecting her first foal in 2019. She also attended the ISR/OLD NA inspections at Wally Woo Farm in 2018 and was awarded a 99.0 and placed into the Main Mare Book.

PROSPECTS

Inndulgence UAC "Lush"

2019 est. 16.3h Bay Oldenburg Mare

Lush is our first true homebred and she is exactly what we hoped to produce! By the Oldenburg stallion Innverness out of our Thoroughbred mare Possetively. Lush will be inspected with ISR/OLD NA this fall. We also hope to show her in hand next year in the Future Event Horse classes with the goal of full fledged event horse when she is older. Stay tuned!

Big Storm Coming "Stormy"

2014 16h Bay TB Gelding

Stormy joined us Summer of 2019 after a successful career at the track with 31 starts and earnings of over $32,000. He has the sweetest personality and looks to be a true athlete. After a little down time he will go into training to be an Eventer. Stormy is also for sale so check out our Sales page for more info!

PAST COMPETITION HORSES

Spotless Reputation "Spot"

1999 15.2h B&W Appaloosa Gelding

Spotty was the horse that started it all and will forever have a special place in our hearts. He was purchased for Jamie as a gift for her 14th birthday and taught her a lot about determination, staying humble, and working hard. He is currently living the retired high-life back in her home town.

Classic Obsession "Stretch"

2006 17.1h Chestnut APHA Gelding

Stretch was the horse that really helped to further Jamie's education and realize her passion for bringing along young horses. He was purchased at the age of two and then started and brought up the levels. He schooled second level dressage, prelimary cross country, and 4ft stadium happily but it was clear that he was physically not cut out for upper level competition. Stretch was sadly sold to another rider to teach them the ropes of the lower levels.

Whiskey Bent (JC: Sharir) "Bourbon"

2008 17h Chestnut TB Gelding

Bourbon was purchased to be a serious upper level competitor and he certainly had the talent and the heart. This horse would give his all every day and had the most fun, quirky personality. He competed successfully through beginner novice and was ready to move up a level. Unfortunately, he developed chronic laminitis and stress foundered. After months of trying to rehab him with little success, Bourb said he was ready. He had put up a good fight. He was put to sleep on December 16, 2015 so that he could once again be pain free and gallop green pastures. He is greatly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace sweet Bourby.
